Supply and fit, or fit only
If you have already bought your kitchen from Howdens, Wren, Ikea or anywhere else, we will fit it. If you would rather we handled the whole thing, we can supply units and appliances too. Buying your own usually saves money on the units and costs you time managing the delivery schedule — either way we tell you honestly which works out better for your job.
What is actually involved
A kitchen is one of the most trade-heavy rooms in a house. A typical job runs: strip out the old kitchen and dispose of it, any wall removal or opening up, move the electrics and add the circuits a modern kitchen needs, move gas and water to suit the new layout, plaster and make good, floor levelling, fit the units and doors, template and install the worktop, then second fix the sink, taps, appliances, extractor and lighting, followed by tiling and decoration.
Getting that sequence wrong is what causes most kitchen jobs to overrun. Worktop templating in particular cannot happen until the units are level and fixed, and then takes seven to ten days to fabricate if you are having stone or quartz.
Knocking through
A lot of kitchen jobs in London terraces involve removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room. If that wall is load bearing, it needs a structural engineer’s calculation, a steel beam, and a building control notice. We handle all three, and we will tell you at the site visit whether the wall is structural before you get attached to the idea.
Common questions
How much does kitchen fitting cost?
Fitting only, for a standard kitchen where the layout is not changing, usually starts around £9,500 including electrics, plumbing, plastering and making good. Moving the layout, knocking through, or adding stone worktops takes it higher.
How long will we be without a kitchen?
Two to four weeks for most jobs. We can usually leave you a working sink and a temporary worktop for part of it, and we tell you the exact dead days at the start so you can plan.
Can you get the worktop templated quickly?
Templating happens once units are fixed and level. Laminate can go on the same week; quartz and granite need seven to ten working days between template and fit. We build that into the programme rather than surprising you with it.
Do you take away the old kitchen?
Yes, disposal is included. We are a registered waste carrier and you get the transfer notes.
